Why I Help Others Rock at Work

Why I Help Others Rock at Work

We all have those friends who “like” us but don’t necessarily “get” us. Many of my closest friends think I’m crazy as I appear to be driven by an invisible force to keep working. I admit that I love what I do. When I’m not rocking my work at Signature Performance, I’m sharing ideas and helping others get ahead in their work. The pace I keep to some might be considered intense, but I do it for some precise reasons. For me, coaching is a calling almost spiritual in nature. It’s
    Keep Calm & Carry On

    Keep Calm & Carry On

This past week my family and I discovered a bat in our house. It’s not the first, but it has been about eight years since the last. You see, we live by a beautiful park and the bats help control our bug population. I’m a big fan – except when they are flying around the family room. As my son and his friend came screaming my way like a junior high cheerleading team that just stepped on a snake, my wife grabbed my trout net and a piece of cardboard. While I love her confidence
    Rocking Your Work

    Rocking Your Work

There was a time in my career when I stopped loving my job. For whatever reason, work seemed like a grind, and I no longer felt the privilege of doing something that made an impact. My thoughts wandered aimlessly, as I started dreaming about what could be, forgetting about what is. The real problem was that I was not in a position to make a career change. During this time opportunity knocked, but I was unable to say yes. Not just because the economics of the situation didn’t
    Grit.

    Grit.

Napoleon Hill found from over 20 years of study that highly successful people had grit as a key factor. To be fair, he said “persistence” but, as I’ve come to know the definition of persistence it’s the same as grit. Hill claimed, and I believe it, that there is no substitute for grit and if a person does not possess grit, she rarely, if ever, achieves a noteworthy success. The challenge becomes that being gritty is really hard when it comes to long term goals and objectives.
    The Search for Meaningful Work

    The Search for Meaningful Work

Meaningful work is important. Ask the 15% or so of the American work force who, according to Gallup’s research data, is actually engaged. That small percentage of people will all agree that meaning in our work matters. When we can’t connect to some kind of purpose in our work, we are destined to be average. I hate that - so should you. But what most coaches won’t tell you is that meaning isn’t something that is intrinsically woven into a job. It does not matter if we are a P
    Tiger Woods Wins Again!

    Tiger Woods Wins Again!

Can you believe it? Tiger won again! His first Master’s victory since 2005, and his first major win since 2008. There has been 22 years since his first and latest wins. I’m glad Tiger never let failure define him. For the rest of us, this should be encouragement to stay in the game. No matter what our vocation or calling turns out to be, learning how to live with grit is key to having moments of glory. But don’t be surprised when those moments don’t happen every day. Chances
    The Strategy of Being Liked

    The Strategy of Being Liked

Meet Willow. She looks like a Weimaraner but she’s really a Labrador. They called her a silver lab. We’ve been together for about eight years and I like her a lot. She likes me too. I know because she wears her emotions on her tail. After a long day of work Willow, the dog is often the first living thing in my house to meet me at the door. She’s never been sad to see me. Funny, I’ve never been sad to see her. Willow and I are close because we say I like you a lot. The secre

    Satisfied

Over the last four weeks, I’ve asked a lot from you. I’m serious, if you have now discovered the power of your Legacy in Action Plan then you know what I mean. I’ve asked you to think. You thought about your talents and strengths at their best and wrote about them. You thought about your wellbeing and discovered PERMAH which stands for Positive Emotions, Engaging your strengths, Relationships, Meaning, Achievement and Health. You became an essentialist and selected categories
